View From The Front Porch-Stan Hitchcock-September 19, 2012

This week is of special significance to the Hitchcock family.  Friday, Denise and I celebrate our 27th Wedding Anniversary, and on Saturday we celebrate her birthday. The reason this event is so special is simple.  Denise came into my life and gave me a real love in a real marriage that I did not believe existed for me. When I was introduced to her, on December 2nd, 1984, I was just recovering from an absolute nightmare relationship that had ended in divorce a few months earlier.  I believed that was the reality of marriage, and the last thing I wanted was to go into another one. Thankfully, the Lord healed my wounds and prepared me for the true happiness of a God blessed marriage. Nine months later, in September of 1985, we were married and my life changed forever.  A year after that our son, Scott, was born and the family unit was complete. I feel that when you have had a bad one, you can really fully appreciate a good marriage and a closeness of complete trust and harmony that comes with it.  Denise, "you took the sad out of my songs, you put the happy right back where it belongs, you kissed the hurt away, you made everything right, you have changed my song tonight". As I wrote these lines of a song as I watched her plane take off from the Nashville airport heading back to California where she was living when I met her, and I realized something had changed forever in my life. Denise, all my love to you on this week of celebration of the life of a "Champion" woman and perfect wife and mother. Thank you Lord for the gift of love.   -Stan
