It's awful early for my Master to be up, it seems to me, but what do I
know, I've been up most of the night barking at those dang deer that
come up to eat the grass around the house.
I was surprised
when I saw the light come on in his music/fishing room, way before the
sun comes up, so I came to the door and he let me inside. Layin' here
watching him, deep in thought in his old rocking chair, he seems mighty
troubled. I've heard him talk, to the sweet woman that feeds me so
good, and I know that he has some heavy things on his mind, and I guess
some things have come up that puts the strain on them. Don't undertand
what could be the trouble, I saw them bring home a big bag of fresh dog
food just the other day, and talking to the horses, they don't seem to
know what could be wrong either. Humans just look at things different I
guess, I mean, just think...they got this great porch where I can lay
and watch over everything, they got the horses to eat the grass and keep
it looking nice, there seems to be plenty of everything a dog could
ever want....well, there ain't no understanding them, I guess, but I
sure do love 'em, and I know they love me. I'll just lay here and watch
him, and try to let him know...hey, Master, it's just another day in a
dog's life...it ain't rocket science, lightin' up a little and
scratch my ears, whatever is on your mind....we'll face it together and
I'll protect you all no matter what. Ain't noting gonna get by old Buck
The Collie....you can count on it. Buck
