Sitting across from Karen Brooks, with her
genius songwriting skills, and trying to play along with her unusual
melodies is a real kick. A great lady of music with more talent then
she knows what to do with. I really enjoyed the Heart to Heart with
her. This Heart to Heart is from 1994, shot at Silver Dollar City in
Branson.

Boy, there is nothing I enjoy more than
sitting with my songwriting friends and just soaking up the good music
and picking a little rhythm while they do their stuff. 1994 Heart to
Heart. -Stan

One of the Masters and Heroes of our Classic
Country Music, and a man who is at the top of my admiration list. Bare
is the most natural genius of simply performing the songs, in his own
way, as no one else can. Through the
years I have shared many stages with him, and many after-show hours,
sharing thoughts, stories, songs and soaking in his wisdom of life.
Bare was in my Motel Room, in Atlanta, in 1969-1970 (somewhere along
there) when Lefty Frizzell sang us his song that he and Whitely Shaffer
had just written called, "I Never Go Around Mirrors". Jack Greene and
Jeannie Seely were there also and as we soaked in the great performance
by Lefty, I noticed that Bare had his feet propped up on one of the beds
and that he had on a beautiful pair of black show boots. After the
song, I mentioned to Bare how much I like those boots, and thought no
more about it. A year later, I was in the recording studio recording an
album and cutting a song that Bare had written for me. Bare came in
with the pair of boots in his hand and walked over and handed them to
me, with the words, "Hereyago, Stan". He is a man of few words but lots
of heart. What a great family of Classic Country Music, with the
performers, musicians and songwriters that make it up. I love them
everyone. -Stan

Words cannot express the deep feeling I hold
for Ferlin Husky. He touched my life in so many ways through the years.
In 1994 he came up to Branson to do this Heart to Heart with me. In
2009 he came by my office in
Hendersonville, Tennessee, as he did a lot in his later years, and he
was wearing a new pair of Lee Jeans. I commented on the fact that I
used to wear them back in my younger years but didn't even know you
could still find them. About two weeks later, Ferlin came by my office
again, while I was out at a meeting, and he had two pair of his Lee
jeans, laundered and starched, that he hung up next to my desk.
Those jeans are part of my collection of special items that are
connected to my music heroes. He was a great man of music and one of
the finest entertainers on stage that I have ever known. I just wanted
to share one of the special moments with Ferlin. -Stan
