Seems fitting, somehow, for the old Road Dogs to be standing in front
of our old historic outbuilding. This outbuilding is of split logs
construction, with pegs instead of nails, probably dating back
to the early 1800's. It was originally a smoke house, now it is a
place for Denise to plant flowers around, and for me to hang some of my
old stuff on. I do have the interior finished as a small workshop with
some of my tools, but mainly, it is there because to me, ancient is
beautiful. (No, it has nothing to do with what I see in the mirror of a
morning, shaving) Some ancient, can be an exception.
Here is a
picture of the old roadrunners, looking like they are standing in a
police lineup, with someone saying, "Yeah, that second guy....that's him
I think!" As they drag me away to the dungeon, I continue to
holler..."I ain't done nothing, man, I ain't done nothing!!!" Proving,
once again, everybody is guilty of something, and some more than others.
So, I start a new morning ramble, "View From The Dungeon-Stan What's
His Name." (People in dungeons hardly ever use their real last names)
In this lineup picture You have Super Guitar Man-Bruce Osbon, Stan
What's His Name, Vic Thomas, beater of the drums and prankster, and a
fine steel guitar man, Paul Carie, who I worked a gig with back in the
70's in Evansville, Indiana, and who is traveling with Vic.
Missing at the reunion, and therefor missing from the picture, is our
beloved Bass Player, Front Man, Harmony Singer and guard dog....Buck
Evans. It would have been great having Buck with us, but he and his
wife Debby, live in South Texas and couldn't make it because they had to
pick blackberries. Uh huh, thats what I thought, pretty weak excuse,
huh? We all got on the phone with Buck, yesterday, and sure enough,
they were in the blackberry patch picking. Now, we all consider
ourselves Pickers..but pickers of musical instrument...not dang
blackberries. What a way for the best dang Bass
Player...etc...etc..etc..to end up pickin'. We love Buck, and we told
him that old Buck The Collie was standing in for him, and actually
starting to sound pretty good on harmony, but needed to work on his Bass
playin'. The boys mentioned that we all used to work for peanuts in
the old days of country music, shoot, ain't nothing to work now for dog
biscuits.
