Popular BlueHighways TV Show "WoodSongs" Wins National Telly Award
Hendersonville, Tennessee - BlueHighways TV announced today that Michael
Johnathon's "WoodSongs Old-Time Radio Hour" has been awarded the 2012
National Telly Award for its broadcast "Celebration of Appalachia &
Mountain Music." The radio show, broadcast
on BlueHighways TV, was awarded the TV prize over 11,000 entries from
all 50 states and five continents.
"Celebration
of Appalachia & Mountain Music" featured Emmylou Harris and others
who sang songs about their mountain heritage and expressed concerns
about mountain top removal coal mining. BlueHighways TV will premiere
this episode of "Woodsongs" on July 20 at 7p.m. EST, and replay it
periodically through the end of July.
The
Telly Awards is the premier award honoring the finest film, TV and
video productions, and outstanding local, regional, and cable TV
commercials and programs. In addition to BlueHighways TV, "WoodSongs"
broadcasts on a number of PBS stations nationwide, as well as on 507
radio stations worldwide plus the American Forces Radio Network in 173
countries and every military base and US naval ship at sea. "WoodSongs" is produced 44 weeks a year at
the historic Kentucky Theater in downtown Lexington, KY.
