View From The Front Porch by Stan Hitchcock

- September 17, 2012-
I was exploring a cave, close by the Cumberland River, in 1990, crawling down a narrow passage that then opened up to a large room. When I stepped into the large room, I felt a looseness under my boot. Stooping to examine the floor of the cave, I took my knife and scooped some dirt away from a loose boulder that was under the dirt. There I found these teeth, laying just under the stone, complete and beautiful to anyone of historical interest and knowledge. They have since been identified as the teeth of a prehistoric Peccary that probably made their home in this cave thousands of years ago. This land is a constant source of wonder to me, in all that it holds of historic significance.  -Stan
