40 Years as a Professional Entertainer
Band Leader, Singer, Songwriter, Producer and Current TV Host Has Been Performing Professionally Since the Age of 10

Nashville, TN (December 31, 2012) – Rural Rhythm Records congratulates Mike Scott
who celebrates 40 years in music which impressively includes over 450
performances at the Grand Ole Opry. He first took the stage with his
banjo at the age of 10 and now leads the Mike Scott & The Nashville Band.
In addition, he still performs with Ronnie Reno & The Reno
Tradition and can be seen regularly on “Reno’s Old Time Music Fest” TV
Show airing on RFD TV and Blue Highways TV.
Mike
was born in 1962 in Johnson City, Tennessee and has earned a fine
reputation as a talented Singer, Songwriter, Producer and TV Host. As a
sideman or a featured artist, he has toured extensively throughout every
state in the US and all of Canada. He has also toured throughout
Europe, including the Wembley Tours (England, Ireland, Austria,
Switzerland, Germany, Sweden), and was the first U.S. band to tour in
South Africa (Zambia, Lesotho, Malawi). He recently returned from his
third tour to Israel which included headlining with his band at The
Jacob’s Ladder Festival located by the Sea of Galilee. He also performed
in Norway, The Netherlands, Holland, & Scotland this year.
At
age 18, Mike joined “The Father of Bluegrass Gospel,” Carl Story and
The Rambling Mountaineers. He later joined Jim & Jesse and The
Virginia Boys and then Ronnie Reno and The Reno Tradition. Such
ventures included performances on BBC TV (British Broadcasting
Corporation) in Europe & South Africa and Austin City Limits PBS TV
“The Legends of Bluegrass” featuring Bill Monroe, Jim & Jesse, Ralph
Stanley, and Mac Wiseman. He was also a featured guest artist on David
Frizzell’s “Family and Friends” 2012 RFD TV Show. Mike still enjoys
occasional road dates and Opry performances with Jesse McReynolds and
The Virginia Boys.
All
of this experience and credentials has brought him to the forefront as
the TV Host for Rural Rhythm’s “Behind the Dream” TV Show which airs on
Blue Highways TV. As Host, Mike interviews both legendary and new
generation bluegrass and country artists. This was a winning
combination from the beginning as both Mike and Rural Rhythm share the
same commitment and dedication for the preservation of this great
music!
Mike also serves as TV Host and performer on the new CHRISTMAS: THE MOUNTAIN WAY CD/DVD that also aired this month on Blue Highways TV. Rural Rhythm has released two albums by Mike Scott including BLUE MOON OF KENTUCKY – INSTRUMENTAL TRIBUTE TO BILL MONROE with guests Brian Sutton, Aubrey Haynie, Adam Steffey, Tim Stafford, Mike Compton, Ben Isaacs, Rob Ickes and more; along with TAKE ME LORD AND USE ME,
released on Rural Rhythm Christian. That album includes the amazing
talents of: Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs, Rhonda Vincent, Claire Lynch,
Sonya Isaacs, Carl Jackson, Jesse McReynolds, Buck White, and Shelton
Feazell. Powergrass Radio has awarded Mike with two number one singles
and “Song of the Year.”
In connection with Singing News Magazine and The Solid Gospel Radio Network, Mike was nominated as the 2011 “New Artist of the Year’ by the Front Porch Fellowship Bluegrass Gospel Awards Association.
