View From The Front Porch-Stan Hitchcock-January 7, 2012

Just a moment of reflection before I head off to the office for another challenging week. Here is where I get my comfort, and I'll remind you of the truth, as I know it:
 
"The Lord Is my Shepherd, I shall not want...
He makes me lie down in Green Pastures..
He Leads me beside the still waters...
He Restores my soul.
He leads me in the paths of righteousness, for His Names sake...
Yea, though I walk through the Valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me; Thy Rod and Thy Staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies, You anoint my head with oil, My cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me,
All the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the House of the Lord......Forever.


Now as I take this 23 Psalm, and nestle it in my inner being, storing it there as a promise and a shield. The promise that whatever comes, whatever the challenges in this troubled world, He and I are lying down in green pastures, we are walking together beside the still waters, He is leading me in the Right path...and even if I should stumble into the Valley of the Shadow Of Death...I don't have anything to fear for He is with me. He is really going to drive any enemies I might have crazy, as He prepares a table before me right in front of them, and them puts precious oil on my head, as my cup runs over with blessings.

As I go off to fight dragons and creatures unknown, I set my sights on the green pastures and the still waters, and now challenges turn to adventures....adventures with a Friend that loves me more than Life, and proved it one time, long ago.  -Stan (music by David, on his many stringed instruments)
