Weekly Recipe: Apple Crisp

Apple Crisps are especially popular during the fall and winter months which just happens to coincide with the apple's harvest time.  They are delicious warm from the oven with a dollop of softly whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients:
10-12 tart baking apples
1/2 c. water
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
3 c. flour
2 c. white sugar
1 c. butter

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Peel and slice apples into 9 x 13 buttered baking dish (about 2/3 full).

Pour 1/2 cup of water over apples.

Sprinkle apples with cinnamon.

Make topping out of 3 remaining ingredients.  Mix like pie crust.  Put over apples.

Bake for 50-60 minutes until apples are tender.  Serve warm or cold.
