View From The Upper Mississippi River- July 4, 2012
Fishing this year on the Upper Mississippi has been very different from other years past. The extreme high water caused by heavy rains in Minnesota and Northern Wisconsin in the past two weeks have the water at least two foot above where it should be. The fish have been very slow and hard to find. However, my fishing time in this beautiful body of water every year for the past 26 years, has never been just about catching but more about sharing special times. My son Scott learned to fish on this water many years ago and has continued to fish with me ever since and loves it like I do. Here he is with one of the few fish found, this one on a top water mouse, enjoyed and released back to the waters. Just like life, fishing is more about the journey than the catch and it has been a good time together with Denise, Rachel, Scott and early on Chuck Lowrance who had to fly back to Tennessee way to early. The heat has finally reached Wisconsin and it should be 100 degrees today. I'll come back up this Fall and try 'er again. An unusual year for the outdoorsman and lover of nature but you take what you can get. Happy Birthday America, not sure what you are growing up to be, but I'm with you all the way, just need to move some politicians out of the way and get back to a life of freedom. God bless us all. -Stan
